PTFA

WOW!  What a first year we had, raising just under £3,000!!

2011 was a whirlwind of a year with 2 Quiz Nights, a Summer Band Night featuring the Tragic Mushrooms, setting up the 100 Club, a Helping Hands Day where a team of parents gave up their free time to tidy and brighten up the School, and not forgetting the fabulous Angley Allstars at the Dragon Boat Festival in September and our Autumn Raffle (Winners: 1st Prize, digital camcorder, Belinda Plunkett; 2nd Prize £50 cash Helen Stevens).

Organising all this was a real team effort with parents working closely with teachers, students and the local community.  The support we’ve had from businesses (large and small) has been fantastic and has helped raise the positive image of the School.  Special thanks to Easy Computers, Kalmora Spa, Philip Mans Shop, Reflections Window Cleaners, Staplehurst Golf Centre, the Tragic Mushrooms and Travis Perkins.

The money raised will be spent wisely and we include the Student Council in all our decisions.  The PTFA has already donated £500 towards their Recycling initiative put forward as part of the Courier’s Heart of the Community competition.

We are also helping the 2013 Malawi World Challenge team with their fundraising activities over the next 18 months.

However it’s not all about fundraising - our aim is to continue to support the School’s Leadership Team and Student Council with their ongoing programme of improvements.  Huge positive changes have already been made, borne out by the recent Ofsted Inspection, and there's plenty more to come.

Thank you to all the Angley staff, students, families and friends for supporting us this year and hopefully you’ve enjoyed these events as much as we have.  Special thanks to Anne McGregor who has been a star!

Helping Hands – Saturday March 10th

It was so uplifting to see so many parents turn up on the 10th to help out with the painting of the girls’ changing rooms.  We managed to do the initial preparations and complete the painting of the top sections of all of the walls, and the toilet area.   A second day is being planned to finish the project, which will include refreshing the yellow on the lower sections of the walls, along with repainting the floor. After this, we hope to refurbish the showers, replace the sink taps, and generally update the facilities.

The team spirit and camaraderie was inspiring for all those who took part.  Thank you so much to everyone who came along on the day, and also to Robert Jackson for the donation of doughnuts.   If you would like to come to the second Helping Hands day, please email the PTFA with your contact details - ptfa@angley.kent.sch.uk.  These days can really make a difference to the school – and most importantly - to the children.

200 Club

Alas, winnings won’t pay for your next holiday, but every little helps!  If you have been planning to complete the form to be part of the 100 Club, and keep forgetting, please could I urge you to complete it now, and forward it to school so that we can put the wheels in motion, enabling supporters to start winning?!  Available from letters page or from school direct.
